Agreement Provides Access to More Than 13 Billion Records at 30 Percent Discount
WASHINGTON, April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AARP members can now access the world's largest online family history resource, Ancestry.com, and billions of genealogical records at a discounted rate.
As part of the new agreement, the Ancestry.com World Explorer package is now available at a 30 percent discount to AARP members, including those who are already Ancestry.com subscribers. With an average 2 million new records added daily, the World Explorer package provides access to more than 13 billion domestic and international records collected from public and private resources across the world.
"We go through a rigorous process with each new provider to ensure they offer something both unique and valuable to our members, and Ancestry.com is a provider we're proud to work with," said Clay Buckley, vice president, lifestyle at AARP Services, Inc. "Using Ancestry.com, millions of people make meaningful discoveries every day that they can pass on to their children and grandchildren. Now with this discount, AARP members can do the same. We can't wait to hear what they learn about their ancestors."
Since the website's launch in 1996, Ancestry.com members have created more than 60 million family trees, 5 billion profiles and uploaded more than 200 million photographs, scanned documents and written stories.
"While family histories are told around the dinner table, those stories really come alive with historical documents like census records, birth, marriage and death certificates and even passenger-ship manifests," said Rob Singer, chief marketing officer at Ancestry.com. "Each record found on Ancestry.com reveals another piece in the family history puzzle, which AARP members can complete and pass on to their families as a lasting legacy."
