AANP'S CEO, David Hebert, Ranked Among "100 Most Influential People In Healthcare" By Modern Healthcare
AUSTIN, Texas., Aug. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- David Hebert, CEO of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) has been named to Modern Healthcare's 2016 list of the "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare." The annual ranking recognizes individuals who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be the most influential individuals in the healthcare sector. The 15th annual list includes President Barack Obama in the top spot, as well as senior Obama administration officials, members of congressional leadership, insurer and health system CEOs, and association CEOs, among others.
"It's a personal and professional honor to be included in Modern Healthcare's '100 Most Influential People in Healthcare' along with many of my talented colleagues across the healthcare sector," said David Hebert, CEO, AANP. "While my name may be the one on the list, the honor is a reflection of the outstanding efforts of AANP members and staff who advocate every day for patients and the nurse practitioner profession. It's all about AANP and nurse practitioners. I'm incredibly proud of our collective achievements during the past year," added Hebert.
Modern Healthcare specifically cited AANP's advocacy efforts to achieve full practice authority for nurse practitioners (NPs) at the state level and its support for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) proposed rule to grant veterans direct access to NPs at VA facilities. ANP's national "Veterans Deserve Care" campaign has secured thousands of communications from nurse practitioners, veterans and other concerned citizens in support of the proposed rule.
Hebert previously served as the CEO of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP), prior to the merger of the two organizations, now known as the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Before working on behalf of the nurse practitioners, he was president of his own government relations firm -- the DEH Group, LLC where he represented a variety of clients on health care and housing issues. Prior to the DEH Group, he served as Senior Vice President, Policy & Government Relations for the American Health Care Association (AHCA). Please click here for a complete bio.
The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) is the largest professional membership organization for nurse practitioners (NPs) of all specialties. It represents the interests of more than 222,000 NPs, including more than 69,000 individual members and 200 organizations, providing a unified networking platform and advocating for their role as providers of high-quality, cost-effective, comprehensive, patient-centered and personalized health care. The organization provides legislative leadership at the local, state and national levels, advancing health policy; promoting excellence in practice, education and research; and establishing standards that best serve NP patients and other health care consumers.
