AACSB Congratulates the University of Florida Post-Doctoral Bridge Program Graduates
TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In response to the critical faculty shortages across business education, the Hough Graduate School of Business at the University of Florida graduated another class of participants from its AACSB International (AACSB) endorsed Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program.
Offered through four AACSB-accredited institutions, this innovative Bridge Program provides intensive training to doctoral faculty from non-business disciplines, and prepares them to teach courses in business disciplines where serious shortages exist. AACSB's endorsement ensures that each program adheres to a rigorous set of standards, and serves as a bridge to facilitate the transition of these scholars into faculty positions in management education.
The University of Florida Post-Doctoral Bridge Program offers study modules in accounting and finance, marketing and management, and international business and entrepreneurship. Seventeen participants graduated from the program, and each holds a doctoral-level degree from a variety of related fields including: clinical psychology, communications, education, economics, engineering, French, forestry, history, law, instructional leadership, and sociology.
The July 14, 2013 graduates include: Robert Carpino, Adriana Cordis, Michelle Crawford, Robert Epstein, John Gonzales, Lynn Gonzalez, Kristin Joos, Steve Kirn, Michael Malmfeldt, Adam Munson, Cynthia Phillips, Elizabeth Pierce, David Rands, Sandria Stephenson, Ramesh Thakur, Amanda Vincent, and Minavia Williams.
The graduates have earned a certificate of completion indicating that they are initially qualified to teach in their respective business discipline for five years from the date of graduation. In order to maintain academic qualification, each graduate must perform appropriate teaching and research activities.
"The Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program continues to demonstrate its value as an innovative technique which prepares highly motivated educators for disciplines that are in a great need of scholarly practitioners and academics worldwide," said John J. Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of AACSB International. "We congratulate the newest graduates on their recent achievements, and we look forward to the impact that they will have in their new roles within colleges of business."
