AAAS Launches Science Partner Journal Program to Support Global Expansion of High-Quality Scientific Publishing
WASHINGTON, Nov. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the nonprofit publisher of the Science family of journals, is today launching Science Partner Journals, a program that will feature high-quality, online-only open access publications produced in collaboration with international research institutions, foundations, funders and societies.
Through these collaborations, AAAS expands its efforts to communicate science broadly and for the benefit of all people by providing top-tier international research organizations with the technology, visibility and publishing expertise that AAAS is uniquely positioned to offer as the world's largest international science society.
As a continuation of AAAS' commitment to open access publishing, Science Partner Journal content will publish under Creative Commons Attribution Licenses (CC BY), meaning that Science Partner Journal content will be freely available to all readers upon publication. To provide online publishing services for the Science Partner Journal program, AAAS has partnered with Hindawi.
Organizations participating in the Science Partner Journal program will be editorially independent and responsible for the content published in each journal. To oversee the publication process, each organization will provide professional editors committed to best practices in peer review and author service.
"With the launch of the Science Partner Journal program, we look forward to an exciting new chapter of collaboration with top international research organizations," says Bill Moran, Publisher at AAAS.
New titles participating in the Science Partner Journal program will launch on a semi-annual basis and participation in the program is restricted to English-language publications. AAAS is actively seeking new partners across scientific disciplines.
