AA Credit Union Technology & Innovation Team Donates More Than 3,500 Items to Tarrant Area Food Bank
FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Airlines Federal Credit Union Technology & Innovation team came up with a unique team-building event, "Putting with a Purpose," which culminated with the collection of more than 3,500 items for the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
On Nov. 1, the 56-member department was divided into nine teams and challenged with collecting food and toiletry items during November. At the annual Year End Celebration on Dec. 2, teams selected their own names – such as the Foo'd Fighters, Green Giants and Food Network – and then brought their donations to the AA Credit Union North Irving Disaster Recovery Center.
A course was marked and each team was tasked with assembling their food donations into various miniature golf course holes. The course included numerous twists and turns, including putting with tennis rackets, plastic baseball bats and a rubber chicken – and on one hole, putting blindfolded.
At the end of the day, Technology & Innovation collected more than 3,500 items for the Tarrant Area Food Bank thanks to its "Putting with a Purpose" event.
"I'm proud that my team was not only able to bond as a group and enjoy the day, but most importantly, to collect some much-needed items for a very worthwhile charity," says Brad Aspgren, Senior Vice President, Technology & Innovation at the AA Credit Union. "The day was an absolute success for everyone involved and we were happy to put these items into the hands of people who definitely needed them."
