"A10 Thunder Series continues our innovation by leveraging ACOS for the industry's most scalable Cloud services in the most compact and flexible platforms," said Lee Chen, Founder and CEO for A10 Networks. "A10 Thunder delivers a competitive advantage for customers with advanced service modules designed to run in a single platform that would previously require multiple vendor solutions and licenses."
By 2015, it is forecasted that 15 billion devices will be connected via the Cloud (source: Intel) and the global Cloud Computing market will grow from $40.7 billion in 2011 to $241 billion in 2020 (source: Forrester Research). To accommodate this growth, high performance multi-function solutions in compact hardware and virtual appliance form factors are required to reduce data center equipment sprawl, cost and complexity. A10 Thunder Series platforms deliver innovations in hardware and software to make Cloud applications faster, more flexible and more secure with intelligent services convergence.
This first A10 Thunder Series release includes three high-end Unified Application Service Gateway (UASG) models, designed for the most demanding carrier, Web Giant and enterprise applications, high density deployments and multi-vendor datacenter consolidation. The new A10 Thunder Series models deliver performance, scalability and advanced premium features that rival 7 rack unit (RU) chassis systems —in a 1 RU appliance— to deliver overall data center efficiency.
A10 Thunder 6430 and 6430S (with dedicated SSL hardware) UASGs – Delivering the Highest Performance per RU of Any ADC Vendor:
- Sets a new industry efficiency standard, delivering 5.3 million Layer 4 connections per second (L4 CPS) and application throughput of 150 Gbps in a 1 RU appliance
- NITROX III SSL acceleration hardware for exceptional 2048-bit key performance with 130,000 SSL CPS (6430S)
- DDoS SYN Flood protection up to 212 million SYN Cookies per second
- Concurrent session support for up to 256 million sessions
- Hardware highlights:
- Two Intel Xeon eight-core processors
- Four 40-Gigabit ports (QSFP+)
- 16 1/10-Gigabit ports (SFP/SFP+)
- 128 GB of ECC RAM
- Solid-state drive (SSD)
- Dual redundant 80 Plus "Platinum" efficiency (best-in-class) power supplies, hot-swap smart fans, tamper detection, lights-out management (LOM/IPMI), L2/3 networking ASIC and four Flexible Traffic ASIC (FTA-3) processors
- Maximum power consumption is only 680 Watts
A10 Thunder 5430S UASG:
- 2.8 million L4 CPS and application throughput of 77 Gbps in a 1 RU appliance
- NITROX III SSL acceleration hardware for high 2048-bit key performance with 67,000 SSL CPS
- DDoS SYN Flood protection up to 112 million SYN Cookies per second
- Hardware highlights:
- Intel Xeon eight-core processor
- Four 40-Gigabit ports (QSFP+)
- 16 1/10-Gigabit ports (SFP/SFP+)
- 64 GB of ECC RAM
- Solid-state drive (SSD)
- Dual redundant 80 Plus "Platinum" efficiency (best-in-class) power supplies, hot-swap smart fans, tamper detection, lights-out management (LOM/IPMI), L2/3 networking ASIC and two Flexible Traffic ASIC (FTA-3) processors
- Maximum power consumption is only 550 Watts
A10 Thunder 6430, 6430S and 5430S's optimized design delivers the following benefits that lead the industry for intelligent Cloud services:
- Optimal performance
- FPGA and ASIC technology coupled with fast Intel Xeon CPUs deliver the highest connections per second, throughput, DDoS SYN Flood protection and SSL performance per RU. Scale increases 8x in a Virtual Chassis (aVCS) configuration, including over 1 Tbps throughput for Thunder 6430 and 6430S.
- Maximum uptime
- SSDs, no moving parts except easily accessible hot swap smart fans and LOM/IPMI reduce failure and downtime.
- Green networking
- Highly compact, 1 RU design combined with 80 Plus "Platinum" efficiency power supplies deliver the highest performance per Watt.
vThunder™ Virtual UASG
In addition, the vThunder platform is a software ADC delivering the same advanced feature set, deployed atop commodity hardware while running on a choice of hypervisors from VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM and Xen (Citrix or open source versions). vThunder starts at 200 Mbps for the entry-level/lab edition and runs up to 8 Gbps for the high-performance edition.
Large-scale Virtualization
A10 Thunder 6430, 6430S and 5430S include large-scale Virtualization, with support for up to 1024 Application Delivery Partitions (ADPs) on a single platform for high-speed hardware multi-tenancy. Additionally, vThunder supports ADPs in each virtual appliance. Each partition can run multiple applications or services on demand, further reducing deployment time and cost. With an aVCS configuration, the A10 Thunder Series hardware and software appliances can increase capacity up to 8x with a single point of management.
