a-tune software, Inc. announces technology partnership with University of Oregon
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- a-tune software, Inc., a leading global software solution provider to the medical research community, announces a technology partnership with the University of Oregon (UO). The institution has chosen the company's tick@lab software application as the primary tool to provide administrative oversight for many of its research studies.
"a-tune software's suite of products will help the university enhance productivity and reduce compliance risk throughout the research community," said Monte Matthews, the UO's Director of Animal Care Services.
"We will utilize this software suite to increase efficiencies for our Animal Care and Use Committee processes, animal procurement, veterinary care, transgenic breeding and overall operations management," Matthews said.
The partnership between the university and a-tune comes at a time when research institutions like the UO are facing increasing demands from regulatory bodies and policy makers, such as the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW). The recent adoption of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (Eighth Edition) by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has created additional requirements for documentation and self-regulation. a-tune software will help ease the administrative burden for the UO by providing researchers with audit trailing, electronic signatures and other compliant features. The use of latest hardware such as iPad and tablet technology will also be realized through the partnership.
"We are very excited about being selected by the University of Oregon as their technology partner," said Andreas Staubi, President and CEO of a-tune software. "Working with a world-renowned organization such as the Zebrafish International Resource Center (ZIRC), which is located at the University of Oregon, is an incredible opportunity."
As the use of zebra fish in research increases at the UO, a-tune will provide critical technology tools to assist with the rapid expansion of the model, Staubi said. a-tune technology will increase efficiency and reduce compliance risk at the institution by seamlessly integrating the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Institutional Biosafety Committee and vivarium operations.
