Covenant Care to Hold Grand Opening of New Inpatient Hospice Center.
MOBILE, Ala., Aug. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Covenant Care is making good on a promise to deliver compassionate end-of-life care to patients and families in the community by opening the doors on a new Inpatient Hospice Center at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. Covenant Care's home-like Inpatient Hospice Center is conveniently located on the 11th floor of Providence Hospital and consists of 15 private rooms. It is the only dedicated hospital based inpatient hospice center within in the region.
A grand opening celebration of the Covenant Inpatient Hospice Center will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12th and is open to the public.
Staffed around the clock by Covenant's interdisciplinary team of end-of-life experts, the Inpatient Hospice Center offers the entire spectrum of hospice services, emphasizing a plan of care to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient and their loved ones – all in a home-like environment. Each patient room is equipped with comfortable seating and sleeping accommodations for guests, and visiting hours for family and loved ones are unlimited.
Patients typically admitted to the inpatient hospice center need help controlling pain and symptoms of their diagnosis or have family that is in need of respite care. "Opening an inpatient hospice center in Mobile will help to relieve anxiety that families and patients who need access to these special services often encounter," said Jeff Mislevy, Covenant Care President and CEO. "This new center will give us the opportunity to combine our expertise and resources with one of the area's leading healthcare providers to not only provide this service to the local community, but also increase our service offerings in a key geographic market."
Considered the model for quality compassionate care for people facing a life-limiting illness, hospice provides expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support expressly tailored to the patient's needs and wishes. Hospice focuses on caring, not curing. In most cases, care is provided in the patient's home but may also be provided in freestanding hospice centers or hospitals, such as the new center at Providence Hospital.
