A Place For Mom Opens Annual Caregiver Vacation Contest
SEATTLE, June 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A Place for Mom® (APFM), the nation's largest senior living referral service, today announced its annual "Rest and Recharge Caregiver Getaway," a contest to recognize female caregivers across the country. One winner will receive a fully paid tuition for herself and a friend to Camp Reveille, Joan Lunden's unique summer camp for women located in Naples, Maine.
With over 65 million Americans serving as a caregiver, the contest is meant to award a caregiver's hard work with a vacation of relaxation and rejuvenation. The contest is open to females over the age of 21 who are currently caring for a senior loved one. Applicants will be asked to submit a short essay describing why they, or someone they nominate, deserve the prize. Awarded tuition covers four days and three nights for two people at Camp Reveille, along with airfare and ground transportation to camp. The winner will be asked to document their camp experience.
"Caregivers are typically so focused on the needs of others, they often neglect to take time for themselves," said Joan Lunden, family caregiving advocate, award-winning journalist and longest running host of Good Morning America. "While caring for another is a wonderful gift of love, it can be incredibly emotional and physically draining. I'm thrilled to continue my partnership with A Place for Mom and offer someone the opportunity to recharge at my camp."
Camp Reveille was started by Joan Lunden to offer multi-tasking women a way to find balance, motivation and inspiration. For more information on the contest, visit the APFM Senior Living Blog.
A longtime health and wellness advocate, Joan Lunden has partnered with A Place for Mom since January 2012 to help families navigate the complex process of finding appropriate senior housing and care options for aging loved ones.
