A Place For Mom Announces Winners Of Annual Senior Care Innovation Scholarship For 2015
Program Designed to Cultivate Interest in the Field of Gerontology
SEATTLE, June 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A Place for Mom® (APFM), the nation's largest senior living referral service, has announced the winners of its annual college scholarship contest. The Senior Care Innovation Scholarship program was launched in 2013 to help encourage student interest in the senior living field. Five winners were chosen from a pool of 300 eligible applicants to receive a $1,000 scholarship each toward their studies. The 2015 winners are: Jennifer Conner (Seattle University), Elaine Dinh (University of Waterloo), Jennifer Fulford (Onondaga Community College), Devin Jorgenson (University of Minnesota) and Meghan Pillow (Chamberlain College of Nursing).
The scholarship was open to a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada who is enrolled and currently taking classes at an accredited college or university. The student must be enrolled in an associate's or bachelor's degree, or graduate-level program in a medical, nursing or social sciences related major. Applicants were asked to state the reasons they are seeking their degree and provide an essay addressing needed innovations in the senior care industry to meet the care needs of the aging population.
"Our goal with the scholarship program is to recognize students who clearly possess the passion, talent and interest in pursuing a career in the senior care space," said Jennifer Mellet, Chief Senior Living Advisor at APFM. "It is assuring to see the quality and quantity of remarkable applicants who are interested in dedicating their lives to helping seniors."
