A Night of Charity in The Big Easy, Art Van Style

WARREN, Mich., Oct. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The charm and enchantment of New Orleans will be captured at an elaborate charity gala on Thursday, October 20, 2011 where the magnificent Art Van flagship store in Warren will be transformed to reflect one of the world's most exciting cities.

Steeped in a history of influences from Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond; New Orleans, known as the birthplace of jazz, its spicy Cajun fare, and vaudeville acts will take center stage for the event of the season, titled, "A Night of Charity in The Big Easy."  Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and strolling supper, followed by a special performance of "Life is a Cabaret."  Another unique feature will be the international jazz  group Hot Club of Detroit with rising singing sensation Cyrille Aimee, beginning at 9 p.m.

Guests will escape to The Big Easy, where everything is slower, simpler and easy going, while their charitable donations work to make a difference for two local hospitals. "The hospitals and health systems in Michigan all do a tremendous job, but like everything else, they too have been affected by our troubled economy," explains Art VanElslander, chairman and founder of Art Van Furniture.  "It is up to us to keep these hospitals running at a top level capacity. That's what this is all about, and we just decided we'd have a little fun while raising money to support these programs."
