A Month of Classes at the Center for Living Peace Inspired by the Teachings of His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama on Compassion and Global Leadership
His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama will be discussing compassion and global leadership on May 4th as part of The Living Peace Series. The Center for Living Peace, a non-profit peace education organization that partners with University of California, Irvine to sponsor the Living Peace Series, will be hosting a special Live Peace Month of family-friendly classes and workshops in May that focus on how we can uphold His Holiness's message in our everyday lives.
IRVINE, Calif., April 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- There are few opportunities in our lifetime where we can learn how our compassion and potential as global leaders can make good happen from a figure such as His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama. "His Holiness has always demonstrated the highest values of compassion, understanding, non-violence and global cooperation, " says Kelly Smith, Center for Living Peace founder. "In an age of constant violence and ever-present war and conflict, His Holiness stands as a shining beacon of 'Living Peace' in his philosophy and, more importantly, in his daily actions in the world. This is the model we celebrate in our Live Peace Month. "
The Center for Living Peace will be hosting a Live Peace Month in May, where family friendly classes and workshops are being offered so that more people can learn how to implement the values of compassion, global leadership and living peace into our everyday lives.
There are a wide variety of events to attend! The Living Peace Workshop with former Amnesty International Press Secretary Richard Reoch, Tibetan inspired art projects with Bowers Museum, Language for Young Leaders, Possibility Thinking, Kite Making with The Ecology Center, Smiling Monkey Yoga for Kids, and Creating Compassion Vision Boards are just a few of the incredible options! Why bother attending these classes? "So many of us spend so much time training our bodies and worrying about healthy eating, but we also need to also take care of our minds. When we enrich our mind's experience in positive ways, we can engage in the world with more compassion and with greater inspiration to be a global leader so we can be the change we wish to see in the world," says Faradee Rudy, Executive Director of the Center. "This is what we offer to people who walk through our doors. We make living peace real."
