A Letter from Evatran CEO, Rebecca Hough
Plugless™ Level 2 Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging System
WYTHEVILLE, Va., July 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- It has been three weeks since the official launch of our Plugless™ Level 2 system, the first commercially available wireless EV charging option in the world. We have been thrilled with the response, especially when we look back at the years of hard work that brought us to this point.
We are of course excited about the orders that have been coming in. But we're equally excited about the amount of discussion on the web around Plugless L2. As we have followed the conversation, we've seen several frequently occurring questions emerge. As Plugless L2 is the first product of its kind on the market, this is understandable. I wanted to take this opportunity to provide more information on the Plugless L2 System and the technology behind it.
First, there have been many questions about the safety of the system. As we were developing Plugless, safety was our first concern. To begin with, no "live" electricity flows between the Vehicle Adapter and the Parking Pad. Our system uses the same inductive power transfer technology that charges eclectic toothbrushes. Furthermore, the Plugless L2 System features best-in-class safety interlocks to ensure the system will shut itself off if anything interferes with the system.
Consumers and tech. bloggers alike have asked questions about the system's efficiency. The current state of the technology allows for 10% efficiency loss, as compared to the 1 - 2% loss found in traditional plug-in options. We're currently working closely with automotive manufacturers to increase the system's efficiency.
We built Plugless™ to enhance the EV user experience, which means making the technology fit seamlessly into your life. In addition to the convenience of hands-free operation, the system was built to perform under most conditions—it can withstand being driven over, you can use it safely in the rain and in temperatures as high as 122º F and as low as 0º F (-18º to 50º C). You can expect to use Plugless™ L2 in your normal, daily life and still benefit from charge times equal to corded Level 2 (3.3kW) charging stations.
Finally, we 've received a lot of questions on the installation process, particularly the installation of our vehicle component. We partnered with the best in the installation business, Bosch, to ensure that our drivers will experience excellent service throughout the installation process. The vehicle adapter is manufactured specifically to your car's specifications so it can be installed on the undercarriage of your EV with minimal modifications. The process can be fully reversed to return the vehicle to factory condition. Furthermore, installing our system will not affect your EV's warranty. The adapter generally can't even be seen (though we would love to see them everywhere!).
Bosch is now accepting orders for the Plugless™ L2 System, and we expect the first customers will receive their charging stations in mid to late July. FAQs and more information on the technical specifications and ordering process can be found at www.pluglesspower.com, or by calling 1-877-805-3873.
For those of you who have already reserved your system – thank you, and welcome to the Plugless™ family. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Rebecca Hough
