A Grandmother Receives a Life-Changing Gift

HENDERSON, Nev., May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Diana Russell suffers from a form of rheumatoid arthritis that painfully "eats" her organs from the inside out.  This disease has put her in a wheelchair, and left her completely dependent on her children and grandchildren to leave her home.  Because of the size and type of her wheelchair, Diana's family cannot haul the wheelchair.  So if there is a family function, the family rides in the car, and Diana is left to wait for the bus.

"It is so lonely,"  Diana Russel told AID.org when she interviewed for the grant for assistance.  "I am such a burden on my family, I dread asking for help, but if they don't come for me, I can't leave the house on my own."

Diana reached out to Advocates for Individuals with Disabilities – Foundation through the website www.AID.org.  She asked for a mobile wheelchair called the EZ Lite Cruiser, which is a compactable wheelchair that can fold into her family's cars and give her more personal independence and mobility.

When AID.org called to deliver the news she was a recipient of the grant she exclaimed, "I don't know who you people are, but you sure are a blessing to me!"
