A Former Massage Therapy Client Turns Her Love of the Service Into a Brand New Career
PINELLAS PARK, Fla., Sept. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "I knew from the many great massages I'd received in my life that this could be a great career path for me," said Brenda Sue Walsh.
The 2010 Cortiva Institute – Florida School of Massage Therapy graduate is now practicing massage therapy in Florida as a licensed massage therapist with Florida Hospital-Zephyrhills, grateful to her Cortiva teachers and mentors who encouraged her along the way. "One of my neuromuscular therapy teachers in particular made a great impression on me – he was easy to understand and had a positive, encouraging attitude," said Walsh.
In addition to being drawn to massage therapy from her experiences with it, Walsh was also anxious to move out of what she called a dead-end job answering phones at a busy MRI client. "I had wanted to learn massage therapy for 25 years and when the opportunity presented itself I went for it. I knew from the massages I received in the past that this was a wonderful career and the licensed massage therapists I had known were always happy and content with their jobs," said Walsh.
In addition to her current job at Florida Hospitals where she provides table and chair massage in various departments throughout the facility, Walsh has established her own massage therapy business called Caring Hands Therapeutic Massage. The career trajectory has been a long one, but the result is exactly what she wanted.
"I love what I do and I am happy. I look forward to getting up every day and doing what I love," Walsh said.
