A Different Perspective on the US Midterm Elections from CCTV America
WASHINGTON, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- CCTV America, the U-S production arm of China Central Television has sent a team of journalists from Washington into Middle America to talk to residents about their concerns and the upcoming midterm elections. From Chicago to St. Louis to Little Rock to Memphis, Correspondents Sean Callebs and Wang Guan are documenting people's stories, what issues matter to them, and why.
It is a first – on-the-road – US-China election collaboration.
Each night until Election Day (with repeats daily at 4pm eastern), the CCTV America team tackles different election related issues from different locations.
Correspondent Sean Callebs, a veteran of election campaigns back to 1984, reports on Tuesday October 28th from St Louis on the health care debate. The roadshow travels Wednesday to Waynesville, Missouri to see how Americans view global issues.
Also in the lead up to elections day, the team tackles the debate over a national minimum wage, the money politics driving the election campaign and how new immigration issues impact voters.
Correspondent Wang Guan sees the American political cycle through Chinese eyes, reporting for both Chinese viewers in China and American viewers alike. His observations add a unique global angle to the CCTV America coverage.
