CITY OF COMMERCE, Calif., Aug. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, Sept. 9th, 99 Cents Only Stores will be attempting to set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest packaged product number by creating a gigantic "99" display that will contain over 10,000 products. The event will take place at the world-famous Rose Bowl Stadium, located in Pasadena, Calif. and products included will represent the wide range of merchandise available at the 99 Cents Only Stores, such as cleaning supplies, home goods, pet food, snacks, drinks, cosmetics and more. The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title attempt is to celebrate the inaugural #99Day customer appreciation event where the first 99 shoppers in every store location – over 38,000 consumers across California, Texas, Arizona & Nevada – will receive an in-store gift card for one free itemi, and all customers will get the chance to enter a raffle for one of 99 Mystery Boxes.
"This GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title attempt celebrates the unique shopping experience that 99 Cents Only provides," said Jack Sinclair, CEO of 99 Cents Only Stores. "Everything we sell is at an extreme value, and a world record attempt on #99day is a great way to celebrate our loyal customers."
The event will take place on Sunday morning during the very popular Rose Bowl Flea Market. A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator will be on-site to verify the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title and present the official certificate at 8 a.m. on #99Day. The Rose Bowl Flea Market attendees will have the chance to view the display, take photos and participate in a special giveaway on-site.
While the record only recognizes packaged products, 99 Cents Only Stores offer so much more every day – so on top of the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title attempt, they will be adding over an additional 2,500 products including, fresh produce, beverages, cleaning supplies, beauty products, home décor and more to extend the display to create their well-known slogan "Do the 99" (added products not included in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt).
To continue 99 Cents Only Stores dedication to supporting local communities, they've partnered with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, School on Wheels, Alleviate Skid Row, the Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club and Goodwill Southern California, to make sure all of the items in the display – over $20,000 worth of products – are put to good use once the world record attempt is complete.
