The V-EGW is a virtualized appliance that runs on VMware ESXi 4.x or greater. It delivers the same robust E911 functionality as the Emergency Gateway hardware appliance, with key features such as automatic IP phone tracking, on-site security desk notification, and support for remote workers. The V-EGW is also used to securely communicate with the 911 Enable Emergency Routing Service (ERS), which delivers emergency calls and detailed location information to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the US and Canada.
