AKRON, Ohio, March 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- 7signal announced today that it is graduating from the AkronUSA(SM) Biomedical Corridor District and relocating to a new space in Independence, Ohio to accommodate its rapid growth. 7signal was recruited to Akron from Helsinki, Finland in 2013 when the startup Wi-Fi performance management company had only three employees. Today, 7signal is at 25 employees with its sights set on growing to 60 employees over the next three years. This growth is the direct result of Akron's "soft-landing zone" company approach which provided an array of business support services and a financial investment to 7signal as they entered the US market.
7signal was discovered by Robert Anthony, Director of Entrepreneurial Services- Life Sciences, working on behalf of Akron's international Technology Bridge Program. "It's been amazing to watch 7signal develop and grow over the last four years," stated Mr. Anthony. "The City of Akron has always been committed to helping small businesses get a healthy start by providing them with the tools, facilities and resources they need in and around Summit County. We are both proud and tremendously pleased to see how 7signal has richly benefitted by being a part of our program. We all look forward to watching the company continue to grow in Northeast Ohio."
7signal is presently located in the City owned Akron Global Business Accelerator. As Accelerator clients, companies are not asked to give equity or ownership to the Accelerator in exchange for services. The goal of the Accelerator is to help companies, like 7signal, succeed as part of a commitment to deliver great ideas and innovation throughout the world, strengthening the economy and job market throughout Ohio. The Accelerator also collaborates closely with the Greater Akron Chamber which also provides business support and development services to area companies.
7signal's first two Wi-Fi performance management system customers in the United States were Akron Children's Hospital and the University of Akron – a direct result of introductions made by the Akron team. "Every small company needs support from its community – It takes an entire ecosystem of resources to succeed," said Tom Barrett, president and CEO of 7signal. "I'd like to personally thank Bob Anthony, the Akron Global Business Accelerator and the City of Akron for recognizing our company's potential, for believing in us and for helping us take our business to the next level. As 7signal progresses to its next phase of operations, we would also like to acknowledge the tremendous support received from Cuyahoga County and the City of Independence. Special thanks to County Executive Budish and Mayor Togliatti for spearheading the effort, and providing critical resources that help assure a smooth transition to our new location."
