$70 Million Latino Small Business Commitment To be Featured at Clinton Global Initiative America Conference

SAN ANTONIO, June 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Clinton Global Initiative America (CGI America) will feature NALCAB—National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders' commitment, Inversiones: A Small Business Investment Initiative. This commitment will be featured on stage during the Open Plenary Session titled American Dreams, American Realities: Achieving Economic and Social Mobility for its exemplary approach to addressing challenges in the small business area, and is intended to inspire others in the room to take action. Noel Poyo, NALCAB's Executive Director will state NALCAB's commitment to action at the 2013 CGI America Meeting in Chicago to approximately 1,000 participants and media. WHAT: 2013 CGI America meeting to be hosted by President Bill Clinton, Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Clinton Foundation Board Member Chelsea Clinton
WHY: NALCAB, VEDC, Accion Texas, Inc., Chicanos Por La Causa and a national network of nonprofits that provide small business lending and development services, collectively committed to catalyze the creation of 4,000 jobs by supporting the creation and/or expansion of 1,500 small businesses in predominately Latino communities over the next three years (2013 – 2016).
The NALCAB network will achieve this by:
- Providing culturally and linguistically relevant small business development services to 5,000 owners and entrepreneurs;
- Completing $50 million in small business lending (loans above $50,000);
- Securing $15 million in financing for economic development projects in small business districts
