60th Tupelo Furniture Market Reports 50% Increase In Pre-Market Registrations - Hotels Filling Up Fast

TUPELO, Miss., Dec. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The number of early registrations for the Tupelo Furniture Market, slated for January 5-8, is up more than 50 percent over the previous market.  According to producers of the event, hotel reservations have increased and many new retailers and buyers are planning on making the trip to Tupelo, Mississippi this winter.

"We should match or exceed pre-market registrations compared to the last five years," said Kevin J. Seddon, president of the furniture market.  "We have an extensive database of retailers that we market to aggressively and we track their attendance from year-to-year and market-to-market.  Through the month of November and December, we have noted a significant increase in registrations of traditional furniture retailers of all sizes but smaller operators have been vocal in their appreciation of our January dates because they can order product and have it in their establishments when tax dollars are being spent by consumers."

Seddon also explained that the Tupelo market's expansion into the retail gift segment has added to the overall number of retailers registering for market.  Close to seventy new companies will be showing in Tupelo in early January and many of them offer gift and home accessory products that have never really been available to retailers attending the Tupelo Furniture Market.

At least 110 new companies have leased space in Tupelo in the last year alone – More than half are exhibiting for the first time in January.  The increase in the number of exhibiting companies, coupled with a 50 percent rise in registrations indicates that furniture retailers planning on attending in January should get a head start on booking hotel rooms.

"We have negotiated reduced rates at select hotels in Tupelo," said Seddon.  "But, finding a good room at a good rate can be difficult, so we encourage everyone interested in securing hotel rooms to contact our office and we will make sure they get a good room at a fair price."
