500+ School Choice Supporters Expected at Student Showcase and Rally
Students, teachers, and school leaders will celebrate National School Choice Week
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., Jan. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Student choirs and orchestras will join teachers and state legislators in a celebration of the opportunity that school choice can offer in Missouri during a student showcase at the Capitol building in Jefferson City next week. The event runs from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24.
Over 400 students, parents, teachers, school leaders, and supporters will gather, wearing School Choice Week's signature yellow scarves, to celebrate opportunity in education. In addition to the student showcase, the Children's Education Alliance of Missouri (CEAM) will announce the winners of their Ed Talk competition during the event.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"Reimagining education means that all options must be at the ready. We can no longer ignore the plight of children stuck in schools that don't fit their needs. Instead of closing doors, we need to open all of them wide," said Peter Franzen, CEAM Associate Executive Director.
Event planners include CEAM and Summit Christian Academy.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
