4Front Partners With Students For Sensible Drug Policy To Boost Fundraising Drive
PHOENIX, Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- 4Front Holdings, LLC ("4Front"), a leading retail and brand development company in the U.S. cannabis sector, is pleased to announce its continued, long-time support of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP), the international non-profit advocacy and education organization focused on reforming drug policy in the United States and abroad.
To boost the non-profit's year-end fundraising drive, 4Front has committed to match any gift to SSDP until Dec. 31, up to a total amount of $25,000.
"We're very proud to support SSDP and hope our cannabis industry colleagues will join us in making a financial commitment to this important organization. None of our businesses would be around today were it not for the decades of hard work by the young activists coming out of SSDP," said Kris Krane, 4Front's President and Co-Founder. "As the industry continues to mature, we need a strong student movement to serve as the ground game for transformational cannabis-policy reform that addresses both industry and social justice concerns. Support for SSDP also allows for the development of a consistent pipeline of motivated, well-trained talent that will shape the future of the cannabis industry."
4Front and SSDP have a long, intertwined history. In fact, Mr. Krane was a founding member of the non-profit while a student at American University in 1998. Mr. Krane went on to serve as the organization's executive director from 2006 to 2009, and currently serves as the organization's treasurer.
Since its founding in 2011, 4Front has fostered a mission-driven culture and recognized the importance of having healthy, well-funded advocacy organizations such as SSDP working to reform America's drug laws and addressing the social injustices that cannabis prohibition has caused.
"We know that cannabis prohibition doesn't begin and end at Schedule I; microaggressions of prohibition are around us everywhere," said Josh Rosen, 4Front's CEO and Co-Founder. "SSDP understands the nuances involved in changing the complex micro-policy landscape around the globe and we're proud to partner with them in the spirit of Antibition—which is what we call our team's culture of freedom, service, and responsibility."
In addition to Mr. Krane, several 4Front employees have strong ties back to the organization:
- Sam Tracy, 4Front's Government Relations Director, is a former chair of SSDP's board and former head of the organization's chapter at the University of Connecticut.
- Amber Langston, a Senior Project Manager at 4Front, is SSDP's former National Outreach Director. She's also a former SSDP board member and previously led its chapter at the University of Missouri.
- Eric Casey, one of 4Front's compliance analysts, is a former chapter leader at the University of Rhode Island.
- Amy Hildebrand, Mr. Krane's executive assistant, is the current vice chair of SSDP's board and a former chapter leader at the University of DePaul.
- Mike Lizewski, a regulatory consultant with 4Front, is a former vice chair of SSDP's board and former chapter leader at the University of D.C. Law School.
- Leah Heise, Chief Experience Officer for 4Front's Mission dispensary brand, has a daughter who currently leads the SSDP chapter at the University of Maryland.
