COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Hyundai Motor America and the Women@Hyundai Employee Resource Group (ERG) will host the 43rd Treasurer of the United States, Rosie Rios, as keynote speaker of the 2016 Ask the Expert: Powerful Women Speaker Event at the Center Club in Costa Mesa. The theme of the inaugural luncheon is "Seeing is Believing" which highlights successful women who have excelled in their chosen field, and provides an opportunity for Hyundai employees and community partners to come together and learn first-hand from experienced and successful women who have been inspiring leaders throughout their career. This event is a part of Hyundai's larger commitment to diversity and inclusion, and in particularly to outreach to women employees and community partners.
Treasurer Rios was the longest serving Senate-confirmed Treasury official, having been nominated by President Obama in 2008. She is widely known for initiating and leading a six-year campaign to place Harriett Tubman on the $20 bill – the first time a woman will appear on U.S. currency in over a century. Resigning her position as Treasurer of the United States of America this past July, she is embarking on new endeavors, one of which includes her latest initiative, Teachers Righting History (teachersrightinghistory.org), highlighting the contributions of historic American women in the nation's classrooms.
"Ms. Rios is a dynamic leader and we are thrilled to welcome her to our Powerful Women event," said Dave Zuchowski, CEO and President of Hyundai Motor America. "As a Harvard graduate, public servant and remarkable business woman, Ms. Rios is a true leader, and exemplifies the advancements made by women in the workplace. We look forward to hearing from her about her remarkable career."
"At Hyundai, we constantly work to build an organization of inclusion that values diversity, attracts the most talented people, and challenges conventional thinking. These values are integrated into the Hyundai organization and practiced each and every day," said Zuchowski.
