43 Ohio Students Graduate from Virtual Community School of Ohio

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio, June 17, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Virtual Community School of Ohio (VCS Ohio) honored the class of 2016 at a graduation ceremony held at Ohio Christian University in Circleville, Ohio on Saturday, June 4^th. The 43 graduates make up VCS Ohio's 14^th graduating class of students residing across Ohio.

VCS student Taylor Wang, who has performed in various prestigious locations including Carnegie Hall, serenaded the crowd with her piano playing as everyone filled the room for the ceremony to begin.

High school principal, Denny Hammond, welcomed those in attendance. He then explained that there are many defining moments, graduation day being one, which will make a lasting impact on one's life.

Class Valedictorian, Ryan Phillips, and Salutatorian, Allison Ramsey, followed by addressing their peers. Ryan discussed the value of an online education and the significance it has had for various students. He noted that each of them had experienced trying times which influenced their decision to attend an online school, whether it was personal or family health issues, bullying, the need to work at a different pace than their peers, or the struggle of balancing education with a schedule that includes traveling for competitions. All students benefit from the flexibility and safety that an online learning environment provides. Allison focused on what it takes to be a leader, challenging all of those in attendance to be a leader in their own right.

Senior class advisor, Lauren Lavy, introduced the class before Board President Daryl Albrecht began presenting diplomas to graduates who were proudly wearing VCS's school colors: royal blue (boys) and white (girls). Jeff Nelson, VCS Superintendent, reminded the graduates that although this may be one of their life's defining moments that Principal Hammond described, they should be sure that it was not their last. He encouraged students to go out into the world and discover new defining moments, as this was not an end, but instead a beginning.
