4-Time Olympian Iván Pastor Lafuente Joins Ccilu Footwear as 2017 Ambassador
Windsurfer is a 5-time ISAF World Champion: "I simply fought to make my dreams a reality"
LOS ANGELES, March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- "I do not feel that I 'chose' a profession," says 5-time ISAF World Champion and 4-time Olympian Iván Pastor, "I simply fought to make my dreams a reality." Pastor has joined Ccilu Footwear as a 2017 Brand Ambassador, it was announced today via North American subsidiary, Ccilu USA. In the past two weeks, he won both the Spanish Championship and The International Olympic Andalucía Week competition.
"We say, 'liberate yourself and your next step is clear,' and this is evident in everything Iván has accomplished," said Ccilu founder Wilson Hsu of Pastor, who is training for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The Olympic committee has selected the legendary "ichimatsu moyou" pattern of Japan's golden age as its event logo. For its new Horizon collection, Ccilu drew inspiration from this pattern. It symbolized courage and elegance, decorating the clothing of respected people with inspiring stories.
Born in Alicante, Spain, in 1980, Pastor was 8 when he began training at his uncle's windsurfing school. At 13, he won the Spanish Championship Sub-14. Competing in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2008 Beijing Games, he became the top ranking worldwide competitor of the ISAF (International Sailing Federation), governing body for the sport of sailing. Pastor finished 16th in 2012's London Olympics and 9th at the 2016 Rio Games, while ranking first in the ISAF four more times. These rankings did not come without sacrifice, injury, and recovery. "The best way to get over adversity is to train more, and harder," Pastor affirmed.
"I am very proud to be part of the Ccilu family," said Pastor. "Ccilu style is backed up by comfort, backed up by technology. It gives me the feeling that I'm ahead of the rest, the same feeling I get when I am leading a race."
