Teen Tech Day is a one-day interactive conference, created in 2011 by New Orleans Tech, to emphasize math, science, and engineering as tools to enable teens to use technology anywhere from a hobby to a career. It's designed to provide interaction with event speakers and each other to cultivate excitement about technology. Guidance throughout the day will expose participating teens to a three-part process. They will learn about the mechanisms of game design, fundamentals of web design with the inclusion of building real websites using client based scenarios, and robotics and engineering with an introduction to problem solving and prototyping.
"We are excited to have 365 Connect participating at our Fifth Annual Tech Teen Day Event," said Chris Boudy, who along with Shercole King, are the event organizers. "We believe in small actions creating huge impacts. With Teen Tech Day, we hope to bring more kids into the technology field by demonstrating that exceptional technology is being created right here in New Orleans. 365 Connect is one of the local success stories we point to, rising from a local start-up to an internationally recognized award-winning technology firm; a shining symbol of what is being accomplished here. Their participation and sponsorship of this event demonstrates their continuing commitment to the technology community and future of our city."
365 Connect President and CEO Kerry W. Kirby stated, "365 Connect is excited to participate and sponsor this event that introduces our future technology innovators to the fundamentals of web design, gaming and robotics. Nothing is more important than fostering and inspiring our youth to engage in educational programs that will lead them to build a variety of skills and create a foundation for a successful career in the future. Chris and Shercole are true leaders in our community who have put their heart and soul into creating this program. As this is their fifth annual event, and attendance has increased each year, it demonstrates they have created something special in our community. We want the local technology community to know that we stand ready to support them, as they are a vital part of the new economy that is pushing our city into the national spotlight."
King added, "The students that attend Tech Teen Day already like technology, we hope to help turn their likes into passion and thirst for more knowledge to eventually lead them into a technological field, and possibly become a leader in our growing technology industry in Louisiana. I cannot put into words how excited everyone is that Kerry will speak at the event. He is a leader in the New Orleans technology community and somebody the kids certainly want to hear from. This year's event will certainly be our biggest. "
"I am honored to be speaking at Tech Teen Day before our city's most important asset, our next generation," Kirby said. "My goal is to educate, engage and deliver critical information that will grow awareness on how the technology industry has become the new economy in New Orleans. This economic momentum can only continue by supporting our future technology and entrepreneurial leaders - the youth of our city."
