360fly Now Available at Best Buy Locations and BestBuy.com
Game-Changing 360-Degree Video Camera Brings Fully Immersive Video and Virtual Reality Experience to the Masses
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- 360fly, Inc., the world's only single-lens camera capturing stitchless 360-degree video with interactive and virtual reality viewing capabilities, today announced its U.S. retail availability at select Best Buy locations and online at BestBuy.com. Priced at $399, 360fly allows users to shoot, edit and share 360-degree video content in minutes, while also providing an interactive viewing experience where viewers can click, drag and swipe throughout the video. Additionally, viewers can pair their mobile devices with Google Cardboard VR goggles to experience the video in virtual reality.
360fly is available today at more than 100 Best Buy store locations throughout the country in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Atlanta, Denver, Miami, Houston, Salt Lake City, Honolulu, Anchorage, Seattle, San Diego and more. The company will continue its retail rollout throughout October and plan to be on shelves at nearly 1,000 Best Buy store locations by the end of the month.
"Our team has worked very hard to bring this incredible camera to market," said Peter Adderton, 360fly CEO. "The 360-degree camera and VR market is gaining major traction right now, and we're very proud to offer a non-stitched, HD video with a fully robust mobile platform created for capturing, editing, sharing and experiencing."
Additionally, in what could represent a landmark development in the widespread acceptance, consumption and evolution of virtual reality content, 360fly's free iOS and Android mobile app will allow content to be viewed in "VR Mode." To date, consumption of virtual reality has been a very costly proposition, requiring the use of much higher priced equipment and limited to a small array of virtual reality content. In combination with Cardboard virtual reality goggles, 360fly opens the door for users to produce, consume and share virtual reality experiences at a moment's notice.
"The reality of virtual reality, is that it's not yet widely accessible or affordable from a device or content standpoint," said Adderton. "Now any consumer can have the means to capture, share and enjoy their own personal video in an immersive virtual reality format at a price that's affordable to most. We believe that's nothing short of a game-changer."
