WYNNEWOOD, Pa., Aug. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Citizens, law enforcement agencies, community groups, businesses and local officials in over 16,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide will join forces to mark the 35th Annual National Night Out (NNO) – a police-community partnership event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). Nationally, millions are expected to participate in 'America's Night Out Against Crime' this year. National Night Out 2018 corporate sponsors are Ring, AT&T, Dietz & Watson, Renewal by Andersen and Associa.
"Come outside and meet one another face to face," said Matt Peskin, creator of the event. "The safest communities are those where neighbors know one another and have a strong partnership with local law enforcement."
Along with the traditional "lights on" and front porch vigils, there will be thousands of events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, ice cream socials and neighborhood visits by local police.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships;
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Peskin added, "NNO continues to grow and has proven to be a valuable event that police and neighbors look forward to every year."
