Fazoli's is extending a special offer to guests for helping achieve this large donation. On Thursday, August 15th, Fazoli's will offer its Pasta Marinara for just 99¢ with the purchase of a drink. This offer is good all day at all participating Fazoli's restaurants across the country.
In addition to the special offer on August 15th, Fazoli's headquarters staff will use the day to serve dinner to 160 preschoolers and their parents at One Parent Scholar House in Lexington.
"I couldn't be more pleased with the results of the Breadsticks For Hunger Tour," said Fazoli's CEO Carl Howard. "Fazoli's is a popular place for families. So it's really rewarding to see our guests help other families in need. I am also proud of all of our restaurant associates who reached out with a breadstick in hand to help fight childhood hunger."
The centerpiece of the Breadsticks For Hunger Tour was a customized food truck used to distribute free breadsticks. Those receiving the breadsticks were encouraged to donate to Feed The Children. In addition, Fazoli's created a special flavored drink named "Giving Grape Lemon Ice" and donated $1 to Feed The Children for every one it sold during the summer.
Jill vanEgmond, Feed The Children Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, encourages other corporations to come up with creative fundraising activities like the Breadsticks For Hunger Tour, especially if the $20 billion in cuts to SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, are made. "There are more than 16 million American children at risk of hunger," said vanEgmond. "This number will dramatically increase if the proposed cuts are made. We sincerely appreciate Fazoli's for its ongoing support to our mission"
An American family favorite for more than 20 years, Fazoli's ranked #2 overall among large national fast-food chains in the prestigious Zagat Survey. With a premium menu of freshly prepared Italian entrees, oven-baked sandwiches and salads, a new service style featuring table service and a contemporary new restaurant design, Fazoli's is expanding throughout the country. Founded in Lexington, Ky. in 1988, Fazoli's was acquired by Sun Capital Partners in 2006.
Founded in 1979, Feed The Children's mission is to provide hope and resources for those without life's essentials. A BBB Wise Giving Alliance accredited charity, Feed The Children is one of the largest charities based in the U.S., providing more than 350,000 children around the world with a hot, nourishing meal every day. Here in the U.S., nearly 10 million people receive assistance each year from food and supplies distributed through over 1,200 local partner agencies.
