3 Peter Lik Photos Make Splash at One Drop
The work of Peter Lik took center stage — literally — at the lavish "One Night for One Drop" charity benefit in Las Vegas Friday night.
LAS VEGAS, March 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The ethereal waterfalls of "Cascade" and "Wailele" framed one of the sequences performed by Cirque du Soleil at founder Guy Laliberte's extravaganza at the Bellagio to increase access to clean water for drinking and sanitation around the world. The photographs meshed perfectly with the water-themed production, which featured a stage transforming into a deep pool (and back again), rain, and snow. (During the show, when Lik's art was projected onto the huge stage screens, several audience members could be heard exclaiming, "That's Peter Lik!")

In addition, Lik donated an Artist Proof of his "Allure" for One Drop's online auction, which also featured other luxury items such as a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster valued at $500,000 and a Chopard Watch from the private collection of Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Singer Britney Spears, actress Pamela Anderson, current Vegas performer Shania Twain, and illusionist Criss Angel also lent their support to the event at the pre-party at Hyde inside Bellagio as well as at the performance and at the exclusive post-party at the resort's pool.
"The scene was electric," Lik said. He added that taking the shot that became "Allure" was a wet experience, a perfect fit for the One Drop gala: "I was drenched from head to toe by the falling water."
"It is a real honor for us to be able to support One Drop," said Michael Hill, Executive Vice President of LIK USA. "We hope that the beauty of Peter's waterfalls reminds everyone how precious this resource is all over the world."
Laliberte himself thanked the audience at the close of the show, which was made entirely by volunteer effort from performers, technicians, and support personnel, and also expressed his gratitude to casino tycoon Steve Wynn for 20 years ago "letting this flower first bloom in the desert." He then announced that "One Night for One Drop" would be an annual event, next year taking up residence at Mandalay Bay.
The online auction, including "Allure," continues until Thursday, April 4 at www.charitybuzz.com/support/1722. The one-time-only performance by Cirque du Soleil is available to watch for a $5 donation at onenight.onedrop.org/en/.
