2XL Imaging Drives Business with Celtec PVC Material and Durst Flatbed Printer
UNION, N.J., May 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- When it comes to delivering fast, high quality printing to its customers, 2XL Imaging of Union, NJ, is driving new business by investing in the latest equipment and printing materials—and it's paying off with the highest volume in the company's history. 2XL is among the top large format printers in the region and has become a shop where high quality meets speed.
"Our investment in a state of the art, award winning RHO 1012 Durst printer allows us to print so much faster with quality that is remarkably close to offset printing," said Stephen Scharfstein, owner and president. "We have seen a 75% increase in volume with the combination of the Durst printer and Vycom's Celtec Expanded PVC material, our preferred rigid substrate."
Scharfstein says 2XL Imaging can deliver vivid color definition, eye-appeal and impact at high speeds of 120 beds or 3,090 sq./ft. per hour, in turnaround times never before achieved. "As overall solutions, we feel Celtec and the Durst are the best investment for our customers," he said.
Celtec Expanded PVC and Celtec Ultra White feature highly printable surfaces for sharp, bold display graphics. "Because the Celtec PVC substrate is so consistent, we can print without the usual prep time," he said. And, he notes, quality and speed have blurred the lines between digital and conventional commercial printing. "Along with increased volume, we are getting bigger projects—whereas in the past we could not meet the deadlines."
2XL is mainly using the Celtec PVC materials for retail displays, noting a recent display job for Samsonite. "We printed the images on 6mm white Celtec Ultra White PVC, which we like for its high gloss and resistance to UV rays. We bent it to a 90-degree free standing display, with an added foam board v-groove manufactured box," said Scharfstein. Then, Samsonite did a test sampling with the displays. "The product went to multiple stores and the display went to a portion of the stores," he said. "It was determined that the stores with the sample display outperformed the stores that did not receive the displays."
Another aspect of 2XL Imaging's growth is the structure of the family business, with Scharfstein at the helm, and his sons managing their own domains. "With a family member at all levels– my son Kevin manages production while son Brian handles sales, we are all rowing in one direction."
As 2XL continues to excel, Scharfstein says that investment in technology will remain a priority. "Printing is an evolving art and we pride ourselves in staying ahead of the curve--which all starts with the best ink-jet printers and consistent, high performance materials like Celtec."
