2U, Inc. Announces Full Program Launch Schedule for 2017

LANDOVER, Md., Feb. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- 2U, Inc. (NASDAQ: TWOU), today announced its anticipated 2017 launch schedule for new programs. The company previously announced in its third-quarter 2016 earnings report that, based on strong performance, it planned to increase its program launch target from nine to a total of 10 new program launches in 2017.

"Our 2017 program launch schedule for 10 new programs is now finalized and includes three new university partners for 2U," said Chip Paucek, CEO and co-founder of 2U. "Additionally, of the 10 programs expected to launch in 2017, four are in new degree verticals and six are in multiple program verticals. This reflects our strategy to launch new verticals necessary for the long-term expansion of our business balanced with the launch of additional programs in existing degrees to drive efficiencies."

New university partners include Vanderbilt University, Pepperdine University and the University of Dayton.

The four new degree verticals are:

• Health Informatics. 2U will launch a new online new master's program in health informatics with current partner the George Washington University. HealthInformatics@GW will be the third George Washington University program supported by 2U. Health informatics is a fast-growing field driven by the unprecedented increase in new health care data.
• Design. 2U will launch a new online master of science program in integrated design, business and technology with current partner the University of Southern California (USC) through the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andrew Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. Design@USC will be the first graduate program offered by the Academy, which was founded in 2013 by a $70 million gift to USC from technology entrepreneurs and music industry icons Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young, also known as Dr. Dre. The multi-disciplinary degree program will offer coursework designed by faculty from the USC Roski School of Art and Design, the USC Marshall School of Business, and the USC Viterbi School of Engineering to foster innovation and entrepreneurship across these three critical disciplines.
• Occupational Therapy. 2U will launch an advanced clinical doctoral degree in occupational therapy with current partner New York University (NYU) through the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
• Psychology. 2U will launch Psychology@Pepperdine with new partner Pepperdine University. Psychology@Pepperdine is a suite of online master's degrees designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the principles of psychology and to prepare them for professional endeavors in fields of psychology.

The six new programs that are in existing multiple program verticals are:

• MBA@Dayton. This will be 2U's fifth degree in the MBA vertical.
• ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse. This will be 2U's second degree in the public administration vertical.
• DataScience@Syracuse. This will be 2U's third degree in the data science vertical.
• Counseling for Mental Health at NYU. This will be 2U's second degree in the mental health counseling vertical.
• Law@Pepperdine. This will be 2U's second degree in the law vertical.
• Peabody Online
  • Master of Education (M.Ed.) in human development and counseling with a specialization in school counseling. This will be 2U's second degree in school counseling.
  • Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) in leadership and learning in organizations. This will be 2U's second doctorate in education degree.
