2nd Annual Team Reeve® Connecticut Roll-A-Thon to Be Held in Bushnell Park on Sunday, September 25th

Hartford event to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. rain or shine

HARTFORD, Conn., Sept. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Team Reeve® Connecticut, the local chapter of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, will host its second annual Roll-A-Thon on Sunday, September 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Bushnell Park, 30 Arbor Street, Hartford. The fundraising and awareness event, which is taking place on what would have been Christopher Reeve's 59th birthday, supports the Reeve Foundation's mission of finding a cure for spinal cord injuries by funding innovative research and improving the quality of life for those living with paralysis through grants, information, and advocacy.

This year's Roll-A-Thon is building on the success of last year's inaugural event which raised over $35,000, attracting many sponsors, local vendors and more than 300 participants. Unionville, Connecticut-based McGovern Agency of All-State Insurance is generously serving as this year's Platinum Sponsor.

The Roll-A-Thon will incorporate teams of "rollers," who will have fun negotiating a wheelchair accessible course through the park. Individuals using power chairs, manual chairs, assisted rollers and non-wheelchair users (chairs will be available for use) are all encouraged to participate.

Greg Hughes, Chairman of Team Reeve® Connecticut, stated, "This year, we hope to bring together individuals living with paralysis and their family, caregivers and friends to network and understand the support available in Connecticut. While donations of $25 are appreciated, they are not necessary to participate."

In addition to the accessible course, the event will include demonstrations and information on adaptive sports including basketball, bowling, soccer, rowing, sled hockey, golf, and therapeutic riding.
