2nd Annual K9 Cancer Walk Brings Dog Owners Together to Fight Canine Cancer - Early Registration Ends April 10

DENVER and SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Join Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) and Northern California dog lovers at the 2nd annual K9 Cancer Walk at Elk Grove Regional Park in Elk Grove, California, on April 24. Early registration closes April 10 and is $30 for adults and $15 for children age 10 and under. All registered walkers will receive a 2010 K9 Cancer Walk T-shirt and a bandanna for their dog.

Walk-day registration is $35 and begins at 8:30 a.m. The event includes 3K and 7K lake walk options starting at 10:00 a.m. Participants will have a chance to visit with more than 20 vendors and after the walk, participants can listen to experts discuss cancer prevention, wellness and cancer research and treatment and can learn how to advocate for their dog's health.

All canine cancer research supporters who are not able to attend the walk in Elk Grove are encouraged to participate in Sit & Stay for a Cure, which gives dog lovers a chance to virtually participate in the walk—and help dogs enjoy longer, healthier lives from the comfort of their couch.

This year's goal is to raise $30,000 for research that will help prevent, treat and, ultimately, cure cancer in dogs. Currently, MAF has over 30 teams registered. To participate in the K9 Cancer Walk, visit www.K9CancerWalk.org.

An estimated 50 percent of all dogs will battle cancer. It is the No. 1 cause of death in dogs over the age of 2. MAF launched the K9 Cancer Walk program as a way to raise funds for its Canine Cancer Campaign, which funds prevention and treatment research to help dogs enjoy longer, healthier, cancer-free lives. Participating in this walk is a great way to memorialize a beloved dog lost to cancer or create a brighter future for a current canine companion.
