28th Annual "Matzoball" Rolls Into Town Christmas Eve
This year's annual Matzoball gives young Jewish singles across the U.S. a reason to party on Christmas Eve.
NEW YORK, Dec. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On December 24th Jewish singles will converge in cities across the U.S. for an annual party known as the Matzoball. While much of the world is observing Christmas Eve, hip Jewish singles in urban communities will be partying and mingling at the 28th annual Matzoball - a string of high-end social events coordinated by The Society of Young Jewish Professionals.
Starting in 1987 at a local bar near Boston University where Matzoball creator Andy Rudnick was bartending, the party was created to give Jewish singles, who usually don't have a place to go on Christmas Eve, a place to party. Today, the Matzoball has grown from a local college bar, to a humongous franchise of Christmas Eve parties that take place each year in New York, Boston, Charlotte, DC, Miami, Boca/Delray Beach, Detroit, San Francisco, LA, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Dallas; connecting 50,000 young Jewish singles together, since its inception.
The Matzoball has become about more than just partying. These Jewish Christmas Eve events have morphed into a casual matchmaking service. With over 1,000 marriages reported to date, there are reports of couples who met 25 years ago, whose 21-year-old children are attending this year for the first time. Creator, Andy, even met his wife at one of his Matzoball events.
The Matzo Ball has become an event that is looked forward to year after year, where people can meet, network, make lifelong friendships, and relationships.
