23 Days: The World War Two Diary of a Young Man's Journey from Captive to Intelligence Agent
NORWICH, England, August 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Yellow Wheel Publishing announce the release of a new book, "23 Days A Memoir of 1939" by Antoni Jozef Podolski
Yellow Wheel Publishing invites you to endure the horrors and brutal experiences of World War Two, as told through a series of diaries from a young man. Their release of 23 Days allows readers to join the late Antoni Jozef Podolski (Joe) through both his darkest and most triumphant moments as they read his personal recollection of victory against his torturers and interrogators.
Penned in 1984 and never before released, 23 Days is a personalised recounting of the late Joe Podolski's experiences from the outbreak of World War Two in Eastern Poland, when he was just 16, to his arrival in England in 1940. It tells of his ultimate challenge of serving as an intelligence agent in occupied Europe before a further return to England and service as a fighter pilot with the RAF.
His book takes the reader through the days before fully-fledged war and through Joe's interrogation and torture at the hands of his Russian Captors and his 23 days in a condemned cell. Ultimately he declared victory against his adversaries through a seemingly impossible journey to England following escape from an Arctic gulag. The most amazing part of his story is then told of his voluntary return to Europe, by submarine, following training as an SOE agent. His encounter and romance with the beautiful daughter of a Red Army Colonel provided Joe with the cover and support needed to carry out his final covert mission of assassination.
September 2014 will mark the 75th Anniversary of the German invasion of Poland, the outbreak of World War 2 and the events recorded in 23 Days. Yellow Wheel Publishing have decided to take the book, which covers a very important chapter in the history of Poland, to the 18th International Book Fair being held in Krakow, Poland from the 23rd to the 26th October 2014 and would be pleased to meet anybody with an interest in their subject.
23 Days is currently available from any UK bookstore, directly from the publisher's website (http://www.23days.eu), and is available for the Kindle via Amazon.
Amazon readers of 23 Days have enthused about Joe's "fascinating" depiction of the "depravity and horrors" of World War Two and marvelled at his will to survive. Their webpages contain many congratulatory reviews of the book.
