SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Michelin today released the list of 68 Bib Gourmand restaurants in San Francisco the week before its 2019 star selection, featuring eight new additions.
Michelin inspectors have been eating their way around San Francisco for over 13 years. Introduced in 1997, Bib Gourmand restaurants are awarded by Michelin's inspectors because they serve high quality food while making it possible to order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included).
The 2019 MICHELIN® Guide San Francisco includes 42 types of cuisine, highlighting the Bay Area's diverse and varied dining scene. Notable cuisines amongst the Bib Gourmands include Middle Eastern (Dyafa), Mexican (Luna Mexican Kitchen) and Cambodian (Nyum Bai).
The MICHELIN Guide, renowned for its anonymous food inspectors, was created at the turn of the 20th century by the founding Michelin brothers to provide motorists with useful information about where they could service and repair their cars, and eventually where to find a good quality meal as well.
The 2019 Michelin-starred restaurants will be released on Thursday, Nov. 29. The Guide will go on sale Tuesday, Dec. 4 at major book sellers for a suggested retail price of $18.99.
Ciccio is located in Yountville and is packed for a reason. The quality of execution was especially impressive from the pizza to the pasta.
Dyafa is a waterfront stunner with specialty warm breads, flavorful dips and shareable Middle-Eastern fare.
El Molino Central is a sunny Sonoma favorite. From fish tacos and Oaxacan red mole to nachos, this kitchen is the intersection of quality ingredients, full-flavored dishes and refined technique.
Gran Electrica is a Brooklyn export that brings a serious dose of fun and energy to downtown Napa. The quality is consistent from coast to coast.
Luna Mexican Kitchen offers delicious Mexican fare in San Jose with this charming new spot. The dishes are made with truly high-quality ingredients.
Nyum Bai is a wonderful addition to the Oakland area. The chef confidently delivers a personal take on Cambodian cuisine, served with a side of Khmer rock.
Soba Ichi is helmed by the team that opened Berkeley's Ippuku. This time, the focus is on excellently crafted, small batch soba.
Teni East Kitchen offers plenty of deep flavour in this sun-drenched Temescal charmer. Southeast Asian cuisine meets California in creative and delicious dishes.
