NYC tops the list as most relevant US city for Chinese tourists
SHANGHAI, Nov. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- RTG Consulting Group released the "2016 RTG City Relevance Report (US Edition)" today, a study ranking US cities by relevance to Chinese outbound tourists.
The report, in association with Hearst China, highlights how a city is portrayed in the consumers' mind through RTG's Relevance Decagon Model - a system designed to measure and display a subject's relevance by associations across 10 individual attributes. Interesting findings include NYC topping the overall city index, scoring highest with Food & Beverage, Shopping, Attractions & Landmarks, Culture, Art & Heritage, Infrastructure & Facilities, and Accommodation & Service.

The "2016 RTG City Relevance Report (US Edition)", was developed and conducted by RTG Consulting Group's Intuition division, with quantitative research support from Hearst China. Analyzing survey data from 1,000 middle and upper class Chinese travelers (25-45yrs old), as well in-depth interviews with 50 respondents from China's Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, the study weighted a city's relevance across top tourism attributes. The top 10 attributes considered are: Food & Beverage, Shopping, Entertainment, Natural Landscapes, Attractions & Landmarks, Culture, Art & Heritage, Value for Money, Safety & Security, Infrastructure & Facilities, and Accommodation & Service.
