2016 Mid-Market Awards Nominations Now Being Accepted - Winners Announced During CEO Connection Mid-Market Convention at Wharton in September
SYOSSET, N.Y., Feb. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Nominations for the 2016 CEO Connection Mid-Market Awards are being accepted now through February 29. The purpose of these awards is to recognize and honor exceptional leaders within the mid-market. Winners will be announced at this year's CEO Connection Mid-Market Awards Dinner, scheduled for September 20, 2016. The dinner takes place in conjunction with the Mid-Market Convention in Philadelphia.
The Mid-Market Awards consist of four categories. The Mid-Market Company of the Year Award recognizes an organization for achieving the highest standard in leadership, within both the business world and society at large. Those same criteria apply to the Mid-Market CEO of the Year Award. An executive who has already shown great potential for leadership early in his/her career will be honored with the Mid-Market Rising Star Award. The Social Impact Award is given to the mid-market CEO who has made the greatest impact in the realms of philanthropy, social enterprise or public service.
Nominations are welcome from any source, including self nominations. A CEO Connection committee then reviews all nominations, gathering opinions from other business leaders, academics and the media. Five finalists are selected for each category. Finally, prior winners of the Mid-Market Awards vote on the candidates. Award winners from 2015 included Zulily (Company of the Year); Jostein Solheim, CEO of Ben & Jerry's (CEO of the Year); Lars Bjork, CEO of Qlik (Rising Star); and Jennifer Hyman, CEO of Rent the Runway (Social Impact).
The broader purpose of the Mid-Market Awards is to draw attention to the mid-market as a hub for real social impact, job creation and innovation. "These awards are our way of shining a well-deserved spotlight on the impact that mid-market businesses have on our economy and society," states CEO Connection co-founder Kenneth Beck. "The general public regularly receives news about large and small businesses, but the mid-market is under represented when the media reports about the country's economic landscape. These businesses and CEOs show how much of a role the mid-market plays in the areas of innovation and job creation, which are pivotal to the health of our national economy now and in the future."
