2015 Spark Product Awards Winners Announced
Exciting Finale to Spark Product Design Award Category. VIP Jury Picked Best of the Best Designs
SAN FRANCISCO, July 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- "This year we saw entries ranging from elegant electronics to very well thought-out products for security," said Clark Kellogg, Spark Senior Advisor. "Our top vote getter was the permanent HUBB Oil Filter by Bob Riccomini and Marco Berkhout for Whipsaw Inc, and Christopher Hubbard for HUBB Filters Inc. Whipsaw's CEO Dan Harden secured second place with the recyclable Leitz Icon Cartridges." "Whipsaw is proving that designs can be both sustainable and efficient," said Spark President, Peter Kuchnicki. "They can even be beautiful--who's ever seen a lovelier oil filter!"
The Spark Product Jury was chaired by John Guenther, venture capital fund director and former Worldwide Design Director of Hewlett Packard. The new Jury Mentor role was assumed by Tania Aldous, Vice President of Design, World Kitchen LLC. Our team also included: Beat Karrer, Principal, Studio Beat Karrer GmbH & Managing Director, Fluidsolids; Josh Handy, Vice President Global Product Experience, method products; Lukas Scherrer, Principal, Shibuleru Design; Colin Owen, CEO, SPARSE and Jim Shook, Principal, Shook Design.
They selected 5 top Spark! Awards, 4 Golds, 11 Silvers and 17 Bronzes --with a total of 37 taking home medals. Jurors worked with a variety of media, including display boards, models, prototypes, digital images, storyboards, videos and physical designs.
The winners are currently exhibited in the Autodesk Gallery in San Francisco and may be viewed by visiting the Spark Galleries. As Kuchnicki stated, "The work is outstanding and we applaud all the discipline, creativity and difficult choices that went into them.
