2015 Global App Development Championship Final Successfully Held in Chengdu

CHENGDU, China, Oct. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 9th Chengdu International Software Design and Application Competition and the 2015 Global App Development Creative Idea Championship, as part of the "Week of Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation" of Chengdu, successfully held the final competition of the IDG Global App Development Creative Idea Championship at Chengdu Global Center on October 20.
iCreator from Chengdu Junqian Information Technology Co., Ltd, Let's dance from Chengdu Black Pony Information Technology Co., Ltd, and Play the Traffic Flow from Chengdu Play the Traffic Flow Web Technology Co., Ltd grabbed the first three places. The event attracted nearly 500 developers, who were joined by representatives from the municipal and district-level government, software parks, technology incubators, software companies, investment and financing institutions, universities and media.
Chengdu International Software Design and Application Competition is an annual major event for software developers in Chengdu to showcase their talents. Under the theme of "Software drives municipal development, innovation leads to the future", this competition encourages "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" in the sector of software and IT service, promotes the adoption of "Internet Plus", and concentrates on the goal of "encouraging innovation, supporting startups, gathering talents, attracting investments and cultivating promising projects".
Through integrating resources from International Data Group (IDG), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the National e-Commerce Three Innovation Competitions, the competition collects works of a given topic and organizes a variety of activities including skill set training, startup mentoring, development competition, innovation display, road show, and networking of startups with investment and financing institutions. It serves as a platform that helps companies to detect talents and screen projects, and helps gifted software developers to start up businesses and gain opportunities to combine technology with industrial capital, thus pushing the software and IT service industry in Chengdu to constantly grow.
The 2015 session, open to companies, teams, individual developers and students in universities and higher/middle vocational schools, consisted of three separate team competitions - IDG Global App Development Creative Idea Championship, Intelligent Software/Hardware Application Innovation Competition, and e-Commerce App Design Skill Competition. The winning teams will be awarded financial support of up to RMB 10,000 each and office premises such as "Chengdu Startup Golden/Silver Key". In addition, the excellent projects among them will be recommended to venture capitals and seed money to render in-depth support to the startups and incubation services.
On the morning session of the competition, Fang Cunhao, Vice Director of the Economic and Information Technology Commission of Sichuan Province, attended the event and made a speech. He said the competition is a key component in the city's efforts pushing forward the construction of a Software City in China and an important platform for the city to implement its software human resources strategy. Over the years, the competition has kept refreshing itself by bringing in new formats, screened talents and selected excellent projects. It successfully inspired software professionals to explore the potential of their innovative talents and helped a large number of them to realize their entrepreneurship dreams in Chengdu, thus effectively driving the fast convergence and development of talents, technology, industry and capital.
Gou Zhengli, Vice Mayor of Chengdu also attended the event. He and Hugo Shong, Founding General Partner of IDG Capital Partners, signed the Meeting Memorandum of Chengdu Municipal Government and IDG, which marked the beginning of a series of cooperation in the sector of IT, including technological innovation and startup, investment networking, cultural affairs and tourism, and trade shows.
Industry leaders and company executives including Hugo Shong, Founding General Partner of IDG Capital Partners, Wu Lianfeng, Vice President of IDC China, Chen Pei, CEO of Zhongsou.net, Zhu Tao, CTO of Zhubajie.com, and You Ya, Vice President of Digital China Smart City Group, delivered keynote speeches on topics of entrepreneurship, innovation, Internet Plus, mobile future and smart city, arousing passionate resonance among the audience.
During the Knockout Contest held in the afternoon, 10 finalist Apps had a tight race. They were Changdou, Play the Traffic Flow, iCreator, Field Work Trot, Qudoufeng Travel, Space in Graphics, Smog Simulation System, Miaomiao Tujia, Anjia, and Dancing Bar. The candidates displayed their apps, followed by professional remarks and comprehensive tutoring given by a judging panel that was made up of four experts in areas of software development, operation and investment. Finally, the three best apps, iCreator, Dancing Bar and Play the Traffic Flow won the top three positions and received entrance tickets to the final competition. They will vie with winners of other regional competitions for candidacy on the Silicon Valley Summit of the 2015 Global App Development Creative Idea Championship and also to compete for financial support from venture capitals.
Chengdu International Software Design and Application Competition is co-initiated by the Information Technology and Software Service Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, e-Commerce Educational Program Teaching Steering Commission of the Ministry of Education, China Software Industry Association, Economics and Information Technology Commission of Sichuan Province, Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, and the People's Government of Chengdu Municipal, co-organized by Chengdu Software Industry Association, IDG World Expo, Chengdu e-Commerce Association, and supported by domestic and international organizations including Chengdu Municipal Economics and Information Technology Commission, Chengdu Expo Bureau, Chengdu High- and New-Tech District, IDG, ACM, Digital China, Tianfu Software Park, Chengdu Youth (University Student) Startup Park, and Chengdu Youth Startup Club.
The past eight sessions of the competition attracted the participation by a total of nearly 100,000 candidates from domestic and international universities and famous IT firms. An aggregation of more than 1,200 people won prizes, more than 75% of whom stay in Chengdu to start up businesses or get employed, forcefully driving the fast growth of Chengdu's software service industry.
