2013 iaedp Symposium Brings Out Nation's Leading Eating Disorder Professionals
PEKIN, Ill., Feb. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp) kicks off its 27th annual Symposium March 21-24 at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa and will feature five nationally recognized professionals addressing new treatments and research concerning eating disorders. These keynote faculty members will provide training sessions and instructive presentations during the four-day Symposium.
This year's keynote addresses begin during the Continuing the Legacy Banquet on Thursday evening with Craig Johnson, PhD providing an update on treatment issues and field advancements. Dr. Johnson has been a leader in the field of eating disorders for over 30 years and the founding editor of the International Journal of Eating Disorders and the Eating Disorders Research Society.
Friday will see New York Times Best Selling Author of The Hunger Fix, Pamela M. Peeke, give two presentations on food and addiction. Ovidio Bermudez, MD, FAED, CEDS, will give the Friday luncheon keynote about updates on adolescent treatment research. Dr. Bermudez serves as the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Services at Eating Recovery Center in Denver.
On Saturday, Jeff Rediger, MD, will address the implications of spirituality on medicine. Dr. Rediger is medical director at McLean Hospital Southeast and the Institute for Psychological and Spiritual Development as well as an instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
Raymond DiGuiseppe, PhD, is a specialist in anger diagnostic disorders. A professor of psychology at St. John's University, Dr. DiGuiseppe will wrap up the Symposium by exploring the issue of anger and eating disorders.
