COSTA MESA, Calif., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 2011 OC Fair (July 15-August 14) will be amped up this summer with its action-packed lineup in the Action Sports Arena. The 23-day lineup features something for all types of adrenaline junkies, including motorcycle racing and jumping, kart racing, bull riding, rodeo, canine agility demonstrations, mixed martial arts, BMX, skateboarding, a pogo extravaganza and five nights of the popular demolition derby in three different smashing formats.
Opening the 2011 Fair is the classic Speedway Fair Derby featuring dirt-flying motorcycle racing on Friday, July 15. The rest of the opening weekend features high-flying motorcycles in the X-treme Freestyle Moto-X on Saturday, July 16, and low-to-the-ground racing in the new OC Fair Kart Racing Challenge on Sunday, July 17.
The first full week of Fair is a cowboy's and cowgirl's dream with multiple nights of bull riding, rodeo and equestrian action. Two nights of the Extreme Rodeo features crazy antics where man versus animal takes on a humorous twist (Wednesday, July 20, and Friday July 22.) More traditional Bull Riding features professional riders taking wild eight-second rides on Thursday, July 21, and Saturday, July 23. Closing the week on Sunday, July 24, is Fiesta del Charro with impressive roping and equestrian skills.
The second week of Fair features a variety only the OC Fair can offer with skilled canines, pogo sticks and mixed martial arts. On Wednesday, July 27, Fairgoers have three opportunities (2, 4 and 6 p.m.) to witness talented canines and their trainers showing off in agility demonstrations in the new JUMP! – The Ultimate Dog Show. On Thursday, July 28, it's mano-a-mano for SummerFist IV, a multi-bout event featuring mixed martial arts competitors. On Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30, the Arena gets bouncing with the new Pogopalooza, the newest extreme sport taking pogo sticks to the next level. Closing the week is the return of the Orange County Police Canine Association Show in three shows (2, 4 and 6 p.m.) on Sunday, July 31, featuring the talents of the county's four-legged officers.
The third week of Fair features five days of competitive BMX and skateboarding action for the ASA World Tour's MegaRamp ASA Triples on Wednesday-Sunday, August 3-7.
The Fair's final week is mass destruction with the Fairgoer-favorite demolition derby in three different formats. The classic Orange Crush Demolition Derby features cars crashing and bashing for the coveted trophy and prize money on two separate nights, Wednesday, August 10, and Saturday, August 13. Cars are replaced with motor homes – toilets and all – for the Motorhome Madness Demolition Derby on Thursday, August 11, and Sunday, August 14. Fairgoers and soccer fans can enjoy a twist on the traditional demolition derby with the new Auto Soccer Demolition Derby on Friday, August 12, where the traditional derby is mixed with the game of soccer.
