Belgium makes a strong showing in the MIPIM Awards this year with four projects in competition and the Brussels-based ASSAR Architects has three of its projects selected.
ASSAR Architects has already won four MIPIM Awards in previous years. Reacting to the 2010 nominations, Eric Ysebrant, ASSAR Architects Founding Partner, says: "We are honoured to be nominated three times at the MIPIM Awards 2010. We attach a lot of importance to these nominations as the selection criteria are recognised by the entire profession, which helps us considerably when it comes to exporting our expertise abroad."
Jury President, Barbel Schomberg, Chief Executive Officer, Aberdeen Immobilien KAG (Germany), shares her impressions after the Jury's deliberation: "We were all very impressed by the 80 projects from 28 countries including Singapore, South Korea and the United States. The choice was particularly difficult to make between these high-quality projects. Criteria such as overall sustainability, state of the art architectural design and acceptance by users, were extremely important in the selection process this year."
