1U Offers Best Solution to the Username / Password Dilemma: For FREE!
Hoyos Labs Empowers Consumers to Ditch Usernames and Passwords and Secure their Digital Lives
1U Eliminates the Need to Pay for a "Password Keeper"
NEW YORK, Dec. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Since its launch in December 2014, the 1U™ app has helped thousands of people to eliminate the pain of trying to remember their usernames and passwords through replacing the antiquated system with their own biometrics fused to their smartphones. To assist people who have struggled to remember usernames and passwords, Hoyos Labs, the company that created 1U and focuses on redefining identity, announced today that it is offering the app for free.
1U is an identity assertion platform that also manages people's existing passwords in a convenient way; consumers don't have to remember multiple passwords or even a master password. Thus, the app eliminates the need to pay for and obtain password managers.
"Usernames and passwords were never intended to be used in today's smartphone / digital life," said Hector Hoyos, founder of Hoyos Labs and inventor of the 1U app. "1U eliminates the need for anyone to ever have to remember an odd string of numbers, letters and characters for passwords again. What we have created is a password keeper / eliminator for the selfie generation. 1U is the ultimate in convenience: through simply looking at your smartphone, the app uses your live image to log you into any website where you have an account. We fuse your biometrics to your phone and eliminate the need to remember anything – just smile, and you're in."
The app, available now for iPhone and Android devices, supports various biometrics – including facial, periocular, fingerprint and iris – to recognize that there is only one you (1U) who is attempting to authenticate your identity and log into any website.
"Biometrics are the unique features that each of us have, comprised of our irises, our faces and our fingerprints," added Hoyos. "1U can use any of these markers to confirm that you are the correct identity and that you want to log into any website that you have an account with."
Hoyos Labs has decided to make the 1U app free to consumers to ensure that anyone who has struggled to remember a username or password no longer has to face that challenge. The app is designed to be equally secure and convenient.
A key function of the app's middleware (which resides on a 1U user's computer) is that it ingests any username / password combination that a user has created while surfing the web and syncs that information between the smartphone and desktop. Once downloaded, the app walks consumers through a simple "how to" setup process, which includes:
- Fusing their unique / personal biometric data onto their own smartphones (and not in the cloud, ensuring personal security)
- Linking with their PCs / laptops / tablets to allow for easy access to any site
- Registering with more than 15,000 different websites (banking, e-commerce, social networking, etc.)
- Loading the browser up on computers automatically and logging users into sites without ever having to touch the computer once authenticated on the mobile device
The 1U app even allows consumers to share their websites with other 1U users without ever having to show their credentials, and they can authenticate their identities to more than one device if desired.
If a consumer loses his or her phone or gets a new phone, that person merely has to reinstall 1U, and the software will prompt to authenticate with biometrics. Once the true identity is verified, 1U will automatically reconfigure and restore all of the original data if the consumer used the option of saving his or her data, encrypted by biometrics, to the personal drop box.
1U is available for download in the Apple App Store and in Google Play. For more information, please visit: www.1Uapps.com.
