1st Tribal Lending Commits $60K in Scholarships to the American Indian College Fund
PINOLE, Calif., Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- 1st Tribal Lending, the nation's leading Section 184 mortgage lender, announced it has committed to funding at least $60,000 in scholarships in 2015 with the American Indian College Fund. The amount will be enough to support scholarships for 16 American Indian students for the 2015-2016 school year.
"As the country's leading provider of mortgage loans specifically for the Native American community, we feel a kinship and responsibility to this underserved segment of the population," said Brett Robinson, managing director of 1st Tribal Lending. "The ability to give back to the Native American community through this scholarship fund is one that we welcome, and we look forward to sponsoring even more scholarships for the next school year."
Donations for scholarships are funded based on the number of loans 1st Tribal Lending closes per month. Given the firm's volume through the first three quarters of the year, 1st Tribal is on track to exceed its minimum commitment of $60,000. In addition to providing these scholarships, 1st Tribal Lending also provides financial literacy outreach to Native American tribes.
Cheryl Crazy Bull, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund, said, "The American Indian College Fund appreciates the support of one of our leading financial institutions. Not only are we pleased about the scholarship program, we are pleased that an institution that helps make the dreams of home ownership and financial security a reality for tribal people is partnering with us. We have a shared vision of prosperous citizens. A college education leads to quality jobs and good jobs lead to the opportunity for homeownership."
