1st Security Bank of Washington Supports Seattle's LGBT Executive Directors Roundtable, Providing Collegial and Logistical Support for Nonprofits
MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash., Feb. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- 1st Security Bank of Washington is proud to support Seattle's LGBT Executive Director Roundtable, a forum for Executive Directors that was launched by the Arcus Foundation in 2016.
The Roundtable consists of eighteen to twenty-five LGBT Executive Directors who meet twice monthly with facilitator Tracy Flynn, M.Ed., to discuss topics relevant to the effective management of their nonprofit agencies. Tracy Flynn, a consultant, trainer and educator with over 25 years' experience working in education and with nonprofits facilitated the group last year and will continue as the group's facilitator this year.
"Being an Executive Director can be very isolating because there are no peers at your level in the organization from which you can appropriately get input or advice on some issues. Getting together on a regular basis with a professional facilitator strengthens the EDs participating, which in turn benefits our agencies," says GSBA President & CEO, Louise Chernin, a returning member of the LGBT ED Roundtable.
1st Security Bank realizes the immense importance of the Roundtable, a forum in which the nonprofits receive collegial and logistical support that in turn helps them to achieve their respective missions in their communities. Many of the nonprofits participating have extremely small budgets, so the financial support of 1st Security is invaluable.
Ann McGettigan, Executive Director of Seattle Counseling Service, explains, "Whether we are one-staff start-up organizations, to larger, more complex agencies, we share in common the responsibility of our organizations' future and sustainability. The Roundtable has been a wonderful source of shared learning, support and strength for us to come together as Executive Directors."
Adds Chernin, "We hope that 1st Security will be a role model and provide encouragement to other corporations in the community to step up and find ways to support and strengthen their local nonprofit agencies."
The LGBT Executive Directors Roundtable membership is by invitation only, with first priority given to LGBT Executive Directors of LGBT organizations; second and third priorities are given to allied Executive Directors of LGBT nonprofit organizations and then to LGBT Executive Directors of allied nonprofits.
