1st Security Bank and the Businesses of Olhalva to Sponsor Poulsbo Kids Day
POULSBO, Wash., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- 1st Security Bank and the businesses of Olhalva will celebrate the kids of Poulsbo with family fun and activities at the first-ever Poulsbo Kids Day on Saturday, Sept. 18.
Poulsbo Kids Day will be held in the Home Depot parking lot in front of 1st Security Bank from 10am - 3pm. Home Depot will host a craft booth where kids can indulge their creativity. The Fire Department will be on hand for bike helmet fittings, the Police Department will offer kids' fingerprint ID kits, and McGruff the Crime Dog will be there to teach kids how to "take a bite out of crime." There will also be fire trucks, police cars, and a police boat to explore – plus the chance to meet a Navy K-9 unit. Adding to the fun is a Treasure Hunt, and when the kids complete it they'll receive a free piggy bank from 1st Security Bank.
"Poulsbo Kids Day will offer a day of fun activities for kids of all ages," said Becky Erickson, mayor of Poulsbo. "I hope this is the start of a new tradition for the children of Poulsbo."
The event was created to bring the community together for a good time and a good cause. Families are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to the local Food for Thought program; a partnership of North Kitsap Fishline and Wal-Mart. Food for Thought provides healthy meals for children on the weekend, a time when many of them go entirely without proper nourishment. Donations to Food for Thought may also be made at the Poulsbo branch of 1st Security Bank at any time.
"The children of our communities are the most important assets we have. Their health and safety need to be one of our first concerns," said Margaret Bradshaw, Poulsbo branch manager. "1st Security Bank is delighted to help sponsor this new community event."
