5K and Fun Run to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson's research
KINGSTON, N.J., Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Parkinson Alliance announced today that the 15th Carnegie Center 5K and Fun Run (CC5K) will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014, in Princeton's Carnegie Center. The CC5K fundraiser offers a 5K race sanctioned by the USA Track & Field (USATF), a one mile fun run, and unites the Central Jersey community to raise funds and awareness to support Parkinson's research.
"At our CC5K, family and friends, as well as corporate teams come together to raise awareness and funding to support research for better treatments and hopefully one day, a cure," explains Martin Tuchman, the Chairman of The Parkinson Alliance.
Carol Walton, CEO of The Parkinson Alliance adds that, "If you're looking for a run/walk in the Princeton area that supports the Parkinson's community—this is the event to join." The 5K road race is the main attraction and participants can also join the fun run. Additional race festivities include activities for kids, refreshments, door prizes, and awards to top runners and teams.
Team "For the Love of Lulu" is one of the event's longstanding supporters; they have participated in the CC5K for the past 14 years and will be receiving the King Award on Race Day. The King Award recognizes a group's dedication and commitment to the Parkinson's community and was created in memory of Joseph G. Fennelly, a generous philanthropist and long term volunteer of The Parkinson Alliance.
Sponsors allow event proceeds to go to research. To date, the 2014 CC5K is supported by 44 sponsors, including Boston Properties who has served as the host of the Carnegie Center 5K and Fun Run since the event's inception.
